Hi, after reading many posts, I believe this is somewhat original, or at least a more concise description of what some others are seeking. For what it's worth, I am using gigCal for a single venue...
The only real problem I have with this excellent extension is this: Multiple bands can not be scheduled for one gig. I'll elaborate.
Suppose multiple bands, lets say 3, are going to play a show (gig) together at a venue. The show starts at 8. Advertisements and booking never clarify to the public at what exact times the bands play, even though they probably have it written down somewhere. Maybe they figure it out at the last minute... I'm not sure. It seems like standard practice.
Gigcal doesn't help me with this problem. Each gig is entered as if it's a separate show. Since I don't know the exact play-times, I put the same time for each gig. In list and upcoming views, there is repetition of the date, AND the time. It makes it seem like they're separate shows all playing at the same time.
I could make up times for the second and third bands or force the booking manager to be complete about that information, but then there will still be repetition of the date, which makes it seem that there are separate gigs, rather than one show.
I suppose there would have to be the capability of selecting the number of bands that will play a gig, and an option to display separate show-times for each band, or just one show-time for the whole show. Also the gig details page would have to show details for all the bands together.
Upon further contemplation, a nice workaround would be the ability to hide the date and time of individual gigs. This way only the first of the three bands would have date and time, and the others would be listed below them without this information. I don't think this would work for calendar view though. Besides that the gig details page would still only display one band at a time.
I know that was long-winded, but I wanted to be as descriptive as possible.
gigCal is great stuff, I look forward to the next release. I also hope this information is helpful. If there is already some way to do this, please let me know!
